This morning I had control of the TV remote. That RARELY happens. I decided to see what music videos were on and skipped from VH1 to CMT. I caught David Cook's newest song "Come Back to Me." The video was pretty cool. And just so happens he was a guest on VH1 countdown and he said that in this video he actually had to sing the song backwards! It took him 2 weeks to learn it. I think it came out awesome! It's a great song. Check it out here. (They disabled the code to put the video directly in any post.) Enjoy!
A friend of mine told me about this website for downloading music. It's not free but it is super cheap. And it's 100% legal! I'm just really cautious on those freebie music sites where you are getting music from another user's computer verses from a company's server. (Plus it's illegal!) Thanks to Joey doing it that way, I've had several major computer issues that cost me $100s. And do you think Joey would take responsibility to pay? No! But that's another story. Back to the cheap music downloads. This site, MP3Fiesta, is awesome! There is so much to choose from. Sara and her ipod is loaded with all her favorite songs. I even gave her free range to log into my account to download music. You have to deposit money into your account and it doesn't automatically reload so once she runs out she's out until I reload and give her the ok. And I also discovered I can download these songs on multiple computers and still only pay the $0.20 per song not per download. I love these good finds!
Yesterday I was driving home with Sara and a song came on the radio she liked. She turns it up a little which I don't mind at all. I like the song too but I'm really not sure how appropriate it is for my 13yo daughter. I start thinking back to when I was her age and a song came to mind that I absolutely loved. Here's the song I loved, although I was probably a few years younger than Sara:
Now here's the song that came on the radio yesterday:
Now they are 2 different songs but here are my thoughts:
"We Don't Have to Take Our Clothes Off" by Jermaine Stewart This song talks about couples can have fun without having to get naked and having sex. Now when I was a tween and listing to this song, I had no clue that's what it meant. I always asked myself "why would you have to take your clothes off to have fun?" Well, now that I'm an adult, I know why.
"Addicted" by Saving Abel This song talks about the guy being addicted to the girl sexually (in an oral sex way) and when I found this video on YouTube I couldn't believe my eyes! I haven't watched rock videos in some time and OMG are they reveiling! So I wonder does Sara know exactly what this song is about when she hears it? We have had the 'sex and where babies come from' talk several times. But now that I really think about it she is 13yo! A teenager! I've heard stories about 13yo getting pregnant! As far as I know she hasn't had a boyfriend. We do talk and I hope she will open up to me when the time comes, when it's her first date and down the road, far away, when she feels she is ready for sex. (I pray it's on her wedding night.) Sexual material, whether it's music, movies or magazines are too easily accessible these days. Having an open relationship with your child by talking I think will help them with making a wise decision. And not only with sexual situations but in anything with friends, jobs, hobbies. I pray everyday I'm raising Sara to become a good person who values herself. We've all been teenagers before and know what we are capable of. That's scary!!
