Motivation: Playing to your Strengths

I get a daily "Healthy Reflections" email from Sparkpeople.com. This one I thought was well worth sharing. It's something I'm sure we all can relate to.

If you spend too much time working on your weaknesses, all you end up with is a lot of strong weaknesses. - Dan Sullivan, business coach

It's tempting isn't it? It's so much easier to see what's wrong with yourself and your life than to take advantage of what's right. The problem is, too much focus on the negative can affect your attitude and opinion of yourself. It's a quick road to burnout. While it's important to pay attention to things you can improve, your best bet for a breakthrough lies in maximizing what you're already good at. The secret is to use those strengths to help boost yourself up where you need the help. What are your major talents? What do you have a special knack for? Set specific goals to improve those talents and don't fret as much about your weak spots. They'll get the extra help they need as you climb higher.

Positive Motivation!

I've had several friends comment to me today about my negativity on my blog. I was even thinking about it before they said anything. What an awful start to my new blog! So I'm going to make a point to be more positive. I've even started another blog that is all about positive motivation! So check it out here.

There are no promises but I will try not to bitch so much about Joey. We all know he is a PITA! So I will end this post with a positive thought:

"It's natural to be negative. But that doesn't mean you have to let negativity control your life.

It's normal to worry. But worry accomplishes nothing, and you have much better ways to use your time and your energy.

The situation you're in could get a lot worse. And yet, it is just as likely to get a lot better.

You don't know what the future will bring. So your best strategy is to make full and positive use of the present.

The way to do that is by allowing your positive expectations to guide and to focus your positive actions. The best opportunities often arise when it seems that there won't ever be any more opportunities.

This is a day when you can make real progress. Turn toward the goal, let your expectations put a smile on your face, and bring new value to life right now."
